Common Material Discharging Ways of Bucket Elevators

According to different discharging ways, bucket elevators also can be divided into: centrifugal type bucket elevator, gravity type bucket elevator and hybrid type bucket elevator. The introduction is described as follows:

1. Centrifugal type: it is using centrifugal force to throw the material away from discharging outlet which is applicable to the material that is dry with fast lifting speed and small particle.
2. Gravity type: under the effect of gravity, the material will discharge along the bucket back , it is suitable for material which is large and fragile.
3. Hybrid type: centrifugal force and gravity force , which is suitable for material with poor fluidity and big humidity .

How to Select the Suitable Belt for TD Belt Bucket Elevators

TD belt bucket elevator uses belt as its traction, there are pitches between buckets, normally ,the buckets will be fixed with belt by bolts. General used belts include: ordinary rubber belt, nylon rubber belt and steel cord rubber belt. Here PK Machinery will introduce how to select the suitable rubber belt :

Ordinary rubber belt adopts cotton as its core, then molded after being coated with rubber vulcanization,. Usually, the ordinary rubber belt is used for bucket elevator with small lifting height.

Nylon rubber belt adopts nylon canvas as its core,then molded after coated with rubber vulcanization, it is usually used for TD belt bucket elevator with the height that is relatively big.

Model Selection of Bucket Elevator

As common used lifting equipment, selection of bucket elevator is effected by many factors, wrong model will give customers endless troubles. Generally, model selection of bucket elevator depends on the following factors.

1. Material shape: powder, granular or small lump material.

2. Physical property: adsorbability or viscosity, and moisture content.

3. Proportion of material: common bucket elevator parameters are designed and calculated according to the materials which mass density under 1.6. While large proportion of materials are according to tensile strength of traction and drive part.

4. Unit conveying capacity:

Generally speaking, shape of material directly determines the discharging method. It is common practice that powder materials use centrifugal discharge and gravity discharge for lump materials. In addition, different charge method determines the different type of bucket, centrifugal discharge always use shallow or arc bucket, while deep bucket for gravity discharge. The unit conveying capacity of bucket elevator is different as its different bucket type. The conveying capacity of bucket elevator is a comprehensive parameter that depends on bucket type, speed, proportion of material, property of material and number of bucket. Selection process is as follows: proportion of material, property of material, discharging method, bucket type, conveying capacity and the model.

Reasons of buckets’ falling of bucket elevator

Reasons of buckets’ falling of bucket elevator are as follows:

1. Too much feeding. It will cause material blocking in the machine, and increase elevator resistance. Feeding too much is the main reason of buckets’ falling. Stop the machine immediately in the situation, and take out spile under frame. Discharge material in engine base, replace new buckets, and then start to production. Meanwhile, decrease feeding volume uniformly.

2. The position of inlet is too low. In general, bucket serve materials from inlet automatically when bucket elevator is in operation. If the position of inlet is too low, buckets may have no time to serve materials and then most materials into engine base. However, materials are lump, which is easy to cause the deformation and falling. Inlet position should be above the center line of return pulley.

3. Bad material of bucket with limited strength. Buckets are the bearing parts of bucket elevator, and have high requirements on buckets materials. Select material with high strength when install. In general, buckets are welded or pressed by common steel plate or galvanized plates, and edges should be folded or involved in galvanized wire to enhance the strength of buckets.

4. Haven’t discharging materials in engine base when starting up. There is always down phenomenon caused by power failure or other reason in operation. And when re-start, buckets are easy falling as too much impact if no discharging materials in engine base. Therefore, must discharge materials in engine base to avoid buckets falling. In addition, check the connection of buckets and belt regular. If screw is loose or falling, or buckets are damaged, check and replace in time to avoid more accidents.

Bucket Elevator Noise Analysis

 Bucket elevator machine that starts to work must be under zero load conditions, stop feeding before stopping running until the materials are totally unloaded.Feeding should be uniform, which can not exceed the rated throughput of bucket elevator to avoid the occurrence of bottom clogging phenomenon.If occurrence, must be park and clear immediately;After the first being or operated of 100 hours, should recheck ,and tighten all bolts contact joints;It should keep all lubricating points normal lubrication in the working process ;If equipped with a slow moving device, slow moving equipment must run in idle state;Regularly check the operation of various components, each connection bolts fastening, traction component and the hopper whether wear damage.If damaged, should be promptly removed and replaced.Usually as a component is not working properly and make abnormal noise.The main parts of unusual noises are coupling, the head wheel and the bottom wheel, cylinder internal etc.

1.The abnormal noise of coupling:abnormal noise of coupling issued, sometimes accompanied by vibration noise of the same frequency of rotation of the motor.The main cause of the failure is caused by before and after two different heart of coupling,Should adjust the motor and reducer position, ensure the motor shaft and the reducer shaft concentric.

2.The abnormal noise of head wheel and the bottom wheel:the noise is very small when the head wheel and the bottom wheel work correctly.When the abnormal noise , due to seal or poor lubrication, causing bearing damage, issued by the bearing seat. Carefully check the head wheel and the bottom wheel bearing condition, if bearing is damaged, should be replaced promptly.

3.The barrel of abnormal voice:the main reasons of barrel abnormal noise are falling hopper, damage or loose.As this kind of circumstance ,should immediately stop, and carefully check and if hopper damaged or loose or fall off to repair timely.In daily work, To bucket elevator hopper of every 500 working hours, conducting a comprehensive inspection included that if is intact, hopper and hopper belt is connected firmly, to ensure the stability of the work. At the same time, in the discharging outlet of bucket elevator,where is installed a fence, to prevent hopper falling, causing damage to other equipment.
