The Solution to Solve Blockage of Bucket Elevator


If there is blockage, please stop feeding material immediately, if serious ,please stop the machine and check the cause of blockage. Please use a shovel or special tools to clear up the blocked materials instead of hands.

1.If blockage is caused by big lump material entering into the base , please stop machine ,remove big lump materials and plugging materials.
2.If blockage is caused by insufficient tension of bucket belt, please adjust the tension after removing plugging materials. 
3.If blockage is caused by large feed flow rate which exceeds the bucket elevator capacity, please adjust the control valve or use other methods to control the flow rate after removing plugging materials.
4.If blockage is caused by feed before start-up, please remove plugging materials, start up the bucket elevator again and operate in strict accordance with the rules. You can only feed the materials after non-load running is normal.

Four Methods to Solve Uneven Rotating Speed of Bucket Elevator Problem

1. Base frame blockage
The reason is feeding prior to start-up, the bucket belt lacks of tension which will cause belt skid, or the inflow rate of feeding is greater than the conveying capacity (including excessive of feeding back), as well as bulk materials enter into the base frame. The methods to eliminate the problem is to shut down the machine at once, close the feeding chute, open the base frame gate plate , clear the clogged material, and start up the machine in accordance with procedures. And also adjust the tension device in order to strengthen the clean up speed of anterior materials.
2. Conveying capacity reduces
The reason is due to the skid of the drive belt or lifting belt, insufficient rotating speed of electrical motor, uneven feeding, serious feeding back, unreasonable selection of bucket design. The methods to eliminate the problem is to adjust the tension device, check electrical motor, eliminate the fault, feed evenly, identify the cause for promptly discharge of material, and select bucket design reasonably.

3. Excessive of material returning back
The reason is the linear speed of belt elevator too fast or too slow, improper design or size of drive head, material discharging in the outlet is not smooth. The methods to eliminate the problem is to adjust the rotating speed of bearing, modify the external dimensions of drive head or adjust the drip plate at the bucket gap, and unblock the outlet.
4. Casing wears seriously and large power consumption
The reason is the installation of bearing tilts, dust deposition on bearing, poor lubrication, bearing failure or elevator belt is too tight, excessive of material returning back, blockage of base frame. The methods to eliminate the problem is to readjust, clean or change the lubricating oil, replace the bearing and adjust it properly. Identify the cause for promptly discharge of material, and clear the clogged materials.

Troubleshooting of hopper belt slipping

1)  Bucket elevator uses the friction between the hopper belt and the head wheel drive shaft to lifting material. If the hopper belt strength is not enough the hopper belt will slip. At this time, you should shut down the machine immediately and adjust the take-up unit to tension the hopper belt. If the take-up unit can’t make the hopper belt fully tension, this shows that the take-up unit work distance is too short, you should re-adjusted it.
The better solution is: open the joint of hopper belt, adjust the take-up unit in on the tail wheel to the highest position, put the hopper belt via head of elevator, threading head wheel and tail wheel and connected tail and head well, then the hopper belt will keep the tension but not fully tension state. In this case adjustment spindle of the take-up unit work distance should not less than 50% of the whole work distance.

2)  When bucket elevator is overloading, the resistance torque will be increased and make the hopper belt slipping. In this case, you should reduce the feeding material and try to feeding uniformly. If it didn’t work, then the possible reason is there is too many material piled up in the base or hopper locked by the piled up material. At this time, you should shut down the machine and begin troubleshooting process.

3)
  If the inner surface of head drive shaft and hopper belt is too smooth, then the friction between them will be reduced, which will caused the hopper belt slipping. In this case, you can spread a thin layer on their inner surface to increase the friction.

4)
  The bearing of head and tail wheel occurs inefficient rotating will increased resistance torque and result in the hopper belt slipping. At this time, you can open, wash, oiling the bearing or change the bearing.

Troubleshooting of Abnormal Noise during the Operation of Bucket Elevator

1. The base plate and chain bucket of bucket elevator collide with each other: adjust the take-up device of base in order to stretch the chain.
2. The driving shaft and driven shaft key is flabby, the sprocket is drift, chain bucket collides with casing: the position of sprocket needs to be adjusted and the key needs to be stretched.
3. The guide plate collides with chain bucket: readjust the position of guide plate.

4. There are some materials mingled in the guide plate and chain bucket: enlarge the inputs angle of material inside the base.
5. The failure bearing causes inflexible operation of bucket elevator: the bearing need to be replaced.
6. The pieces of materials or other objects stuck in the casing: stop the operation of bucket elevator and remove the materials. 
7. Gear profile of sprocket (driving and driven sprocket) is abnormal: correct the gear profile of sprocket or replaced driving sprocket. 
8. Gear profile of driving sprocket and chain is out of order: the sprocket gear profile needs to be corrected. 
9. Drive chain idling: adjust the length of chain.
10. The casing is not installed properly: the full length of vertical alignment of casing needs to be adjusted.

Maintenance of Bucket Elevator

1. CHECK BELT FOR TEARS, CUTS, ETC.
Sudden signs of unusual damage call for immediate action.
2. CHECK CUPS FOR LOOSE OR MISSING BOLTS
A loose dangling cup is the necessary lever to start a busted belt rip.
3. REPLACE BELT CUPS
Cups with a pronounced forward bend hold the belt in a vertical arc, which is a contradiction of forces. When the belt is bent in a horizontal arc around the pulleys, this will cause lengthwise cracks to appear at the bolt holes.

4. CHECK BELT TENSION
This is a possible source of drive slippage and excessive wear. Belts running loose in a leg are put to severe flex due to lack of full contact with the boot pulley. A loose belt may swing causing the cups to catch and tear the belt.

5. CHECK ALIGNMENT
Belts not running true due to out-of-plumb pulleys, idlers or casing cause edge wear and pave the way for costly accidents. 

6. CHECK SLIPPAGE ON DRIVE PULLEYS
Proper lagging of pulleys can increase efficiency and belt life appreciably.

7. CHECK BUCKET ELEVATORS FOR UNEVEN LOADING
This can cause the belt to crawl across the head pulley and cause edge wear or break the belt fabric.

8. CHECK BOOT FOR WATER
A belt allowed to sit in water will rot and tear very easily.

9. CHECK DISCHARGE THROAT
The throat to the down leg should be closed as much as possible with a piece of rubber belting adjusted close to the cups. This will prevent back legging.

Plate Chain Bucket Elevator

Plate chain bucket elevator is a ring chain type which adopts the model of centrifugal unloading and dig-loading. Its traction mechanism is two circular chains. In Henan Pingyuan, this series is suitable for vertical conveying of the materials with the bulk density less than 1.5 t/m3. The powdery and granular materials are easy to dig, and the small lump materials have low abrasiveness such as coal, cement, gravel, sand chemical fertilizer, grain and etc. Besides, it can convey the materials with the temperature below 250oC. Five Phenomenon will Lead to Bucket Elevator Dust Explosion

Bucket elevator is widely applied in industrial and agricultural production. In the process of loading materials, the buckets of bucket elevator will strike on the material at a higher speed, which causes a great friction and impulsive force on materials, and will result friction between materials. Hence, the dust material dust will be blown out. When unloading the materials, materials will be thrown from the bucket, which also cause the dust blowing out.
In order to control the dust leakage, bucket elevator works under the condition of completely sealed, the enclosed space virtually increased the risk of explosion. Although the bucket elevator is worked in a sealed condition, the casing is not very tight, the air can enter through the connector and inlet port. Therefore, there is presence of large amounts of oxygen in the internal. When there is a fire, it can generate dust explosions. Bucket elevator can create dust explosion may be due to undesirable of machine operation, where there is high possibility of creating a spark. The main reason is as follows:
(1) if particle flow contains metallic impurities, it may collide and rub with the bucket in the process of the flowing, this will create spark.
(2) if belt deviation occurs and rubs with casing, it may produce spark, so in order to prevent the sparks, it is better to use the chain bucket elevator.
(3) when buckets or screw fall off, it can produces sparks when rub with other components.
(4) when bearing overheats or belt skid for a long period, it can achieve ignition point of dust explosion.

How to Select the Suitable Belt for TD Belt Bucket Elevators

Model Selection of Bucket Elevator

As common used lifting equipment, selection of bucket elevator is effected by many factors, wrong model will give customers endless troubles. Generally, model selection of bucket elevator depends on the following factors.

1. Material shape: powder, granular or small lump material.

Reasons of buckets’ falling of bucket elevator

Reasons of buckets’ falling of bucket elevator are as follows:

1. Too much feeding. It will cause material blocking in the machine, and increase elevator resistance. Feeding too much is the main reason of buckets’ falling. Stop the machine immediately in the situation, and take out spile under frame. Discharge material in engine base, replace new buckets, and then start to production. Meanwhile, decrease feeding volume uniformly.

2. The position of inlet is too low. In general, bucket serve materials from inlet automatically when bucket elevator is in operation. If the position of inlet is too low, buckets may have no time to serve materials and then most materials into engine base. However, materials are lump, which is easy to cause the deformation and falling. Inlet position should be above the center line of return pulley.

3. Bad material of bucket with limited strength. Buckets are the bearing parts of bucket elevator, and have high requirements on buckets materials. Select material with high strength when install. In general, buckets are welded or pressed by common steel plate or galvanized plates, and edges should be folded or involved in galvanized wire to enhance the strength of buckets.

4. Haven’t discharging materials in engine base when starting up. There is always down phenomenon caused by power failure or other reason in operation. And when re-start, buckets are easy falling as too much impact if no discharging materials in engine base. Therefore, must discharge materials in engine base to avoid buckets falling. In addition, check the connection of buckets and belt regular. If screw is loose or falling, or buckets are damaged, check and replace in time to avoid more accidents.

 Bucket elevator machine that starts to work must be under zero load conditions, stop feeding before stopping running until the materials are totally unloaded.Feeding should be uniform, which can not exceed the rated throughput of bucket elevator to avoid the occurrence of bottom clogging phenomenon.If occurrence, must be park and clear immediately;After the first being or operated of 100 hours, should recheck ,and tighten all bolts contact joints;It should keep all lubricating points normal lubrication in the working process ;If equipped with a slow moving device, slow moving equipment must run in idle state;Regularly check the operation of various components, each connection bolts fastening, traction component and the hopper whether wear damage.If damaged, should be promptly removed and replaced.Usually as a component is not working properly and make abnormal noise.The main parts of unusual noises are coupling, the head wheel and the bottom wheel, cylinder internal etc.

2.The abnormal noise of head wheel and the bottom wheel:the noise is very small when the head wheel and the bottom wheel work correctly.When the abnormal noise , due to seal or poor lubrication, causing bearing damage, issued by the bearing seat. Carefully check the head wheel and the bottom wheel bearing condition, if bearing is damaged, should be replaced promptly.

3.The barrel of abnormal voice:the main reasons of barrel abnormal noise are falling hopper, damage or loose.As this kind of circumstance ,should immediately stop, and carefully check and if hopper damaged or loose or fall off to repair timely.In daily work, To bucket elevator hopper of every 500 working hours, conducting a comprehensive inspection included that if is intact, hopper and hopper belt is connected firmly, to ensure the stability of the work. At the same time, in the discharging outlet of bucket elevator,where is installed a fence, to prevent hopper falling, causing damage to other equipment.

The bucket elevator is a kind of mechanical equipment used for conveying materials from a lower position to a higher position. This is one of the common mining machinery used in processing industries. It is able to convey large materials size and particles such as coal, cement, sand and rocks. Types of Bucket Elevator

Bucket elevators are widely used systems for vertical transport of bulk, dry, wet and even liquid materials. It is designed with various options of height, speed and constructive details depending on the type of materials to be transported. It is constructed by pieces or unit to allow to define efficiently the needed height. A bucket elevator consists of head hood, engine, drive and pulley, discharge spout, casing, belt, bucket, clean outdoors, tensioning device, boot inlet hopper and boot.

      There are two types of load input which are directly to the input hopper or by digging. The method of directly to the input hopper is used for transport of abrasive and big size materials and it’s chain/belt travelling speed is low. For digging method, it is used for transport of materials that offer no resistance to extraction, like fine grain and dusty materials.

      There are few types of discharge which are centrifugal, gravity or continuous and positive. Centrifugal discharge is the most common discharge option. It has great travelling speed of 1.2 and 1.4 m/s. It’s loading is carried by dredging the material at the bottom of the elevator. The separation distance between the buckets is 2 to 3 times the bucket height. For gravity or continuous discharge, it’s travelling speed is lower which are 0.5 and 1.0 m/s. It is taken advantage of self-weight. There are two classification of this discharge, free gravity and forced. The free gravity is necessary to change the free branch line or incline the bucket whereas forces are where the buckets are situated one after the other without separation between them. The discharge takes place due to gravity by means of the lower part of the preceding buckets that acts as a discharge spout. The positive discharge is similar to the gravity elevator safe that buckets are fitted at the edge with two cords. Bucket speed is low are appropriate for light, aired and sticky materials.

Factors that need to take note when planning the intake to feed material into Bucket Elevator

There are several factors that should be taken into account when planning the intake to feed material into the elevator. The method and the location of intake openings in the boot usually will have been determined when the elevator was ordered. However, if the intake arrangements have or are being changed, several factors must be considered.

1.Inlet or Hopper Size:
The size of the inlet affects the capacity and the condition of the elevated material. Too small an inlet means the material must be fed into the boot at excessive speed. The excess velocity of incoming material cause damage, the buckets do nt fill properly, and material backs up in the boot, clogging the inlet.

2.Up Side In-feed Devices:
The device which feeds the elevator, (auger, belt conveyor, spout, hopper, etc.), must feed the material into the boot above the centerline of the pulley. The buckets must complete the turn around the pulley and be moving vertically upward, not at a tangent, before encounter the incoming material to be elevated. Of the buckets are not moving vertically upward when they encounter the incoming material, material will be forced back into the in-feed device or chute. Grinding and churning in the boot area will damage the product and excessive power will be required to operate the system.

3.Down Side In-feed Devices:
Several factors, most importantly the nature of the material being elevated, are important in determining the location of down side or down leg in-feed devices. If a change in in-feed arrangement from that shown on the certified drawings is contemplated, consult Inter Systems before proceeding with modifications.

4.Flow of material to the In-feed Devices:
Every effort should be made when designing the feeding equipment or spouting such that the direction of the flowing material will be perpendicular to the buckets. Reduce or eliminate any side loading of the buckets. Achieving the bucket elevators rated capacity is determined by even and consistent bucket fill.

Introduction of bucket elevator

Henan pingyuan mining machinery Co., Ltd provides various type of bucket elevator which are belt bucket elevator, ring chain bucket elevator, cement bucket elevator, plate chain bucket elevator, efficient bucket elevator and silo bucket elevator.




It is designed for transporting vertically for granular, powder and small block of grinding suction smaller disperses the shape material. It adopts belt as the traction component , can reach to max.40 meters . Capacity could be approx. 4~238m3/h 





Bucket elevator is designed to transport powder, granular and lump materials, which also can lift abrasive materials, such as fly ash, slag, limestone, cement slurry, cement clinker, cement, coal, dry clay, etc., it has an opening bin below for storing material, when the motor driving the endless plate chain (chain or belt) through the chute, the hopper fixed in the chain of plate (chain or belt) bring the material to the discharging opening, in this way it continuously convey the material.
Ring chain Bucket Elevator is applied in the vertical conveying of abrasive powder, granular and small lump materials, such as grain, coal, cement and crushed ore, etc., and its transportation height can reach to 40m. The bucket chains are characterized by simple structure, stable operation and hybrid or gravity discharge. The wheel rim uses combination sprocket, and it is easy to replace and has been specially treated to ensure a long service life. The underpart is equipped by gravity automatic tensioning device, so that it can maintain a constant tension to avoid slipping off the chain. The material temperature can not exceed 250 °C.







NE type bucket elevator’s traction configuration is plate chain , which is used for vertically transporting powder , granular and block material , and also high grinding material , such as coal powder , slag , limestone , cement raw material , cement clinker , cement , coal , dry clay etc , material temperature is less than 250℃. Max. Lifting height can be 40m .It is special for cement,so we also call it cement bucket elevator.





    TB Plate Chain Gravel Bucket Elevator has an opening bin below for storing material, when the motor driving the endless chain (chain or belt) through the chute, the hopper fixed in the chain of plate (chain or belt) bring the material to the discharging opening, in this way it continuously convey the material.
     It adopts plate sleeve roller chain as the traction components , gravity type discharge material. Apply to middle, big block etc grinding material, which density is less than 2t/m3. Material temperature is less than 250℃ , capacity can reach 395m3/h , lifting height is approx. 5~50m . Vertical bucket elevator are highly resistant to wear and can be placed indoor as well as outdoor





 General rubber belt is suitable for material temperature less than 80 ℃ ,heat-resisting 
rubber belt is suitable for material temperature less than 120 ℃. Max. Lifting height 80m , 
Capacity is approx. 2080 m3/h.
    THG bucket elevator adopts high strength link chain as the traction component , draw our
 type feeding material , centrifugal or hybrid discharge material . Material temperature is less than 250℃. Max. lifting height 75m , Capacity is approx.1800m3/h. 




TZD bucket elevator is a kind of bucket elevator special for silo. Silo bucket elevator is special adapt to lifting material that in small size and p< 1 t/m3.There are two kinds of buckets for it, one is made by steel, the other one is made by plastic.
